These are the basics or what we will say is part of Internet marketing 101.  How do you know if you are succeeding if you don't know where you came from and where you are?  Every dollar you spend and every change you make to improve your bottom line is track able using simple tools that in most cases are free.  Every good website and Internet marketing strategy includes data that gives you the details to know what's succeeding and what's not succeeding.  All of the data is designed to help you appropriate budgets and design strategies to help you gain comfort in your Internet focused marketing strategies and the budget you've allocated toward the strategies. 

Quick comment: Competitors succeeding on the Internet are not telling you about it and they are not encouraging you to get in the game.  Let your numbers and data do the encouraging and talking.
